I offer tutoring to students studying Preliminary and HSC Standard, Advanced, and Extension English.
Tutoring sessions can involve discussion, annotating texts and rubrics, editing, practice writing and listening tasks, going over drafts, and answering questions.
Here are some comments from students I tutored in 2011:
I received motivation that I lacked at that point in my HSC. Also, I avoided wasting time when I didn’t know which areas to focus on, such as working out what I did and didn’t need to make notes on.
Tutoring was very helpful in targeting personal weaknesses… tutoring not only built my confidence with my listening, reading, and writing abilities but also offered a very personalised approach to HSC English.
If you’re in the Canberra area and you’re interested in being tutored, comment here and leave your email address as well as which English courses (Advanced, Standard, Extension etc) you’re taking, which timeslot you would like, and whether you would like sessions weekly or fortnightly. Your comment won’t show up publicly.
If you’re not in the Canberra region and would like extra help; I suggest that you read my post on getting the most out of your English teacher, then check out FergHSC.
In order to get the most out of tutoring, you need to be the kind of student who already regularly reads and completes prep. You should be prepared for each tutoring session with specific questions and an aim in mind.
